Ideas for amazing wedding favours
Depending on who you ask, wedding favours are either a wonderful token for your guests to remember your day by, or a complete waste of time. Personally, here at Simply Linens, we’re a sucker for fun, imaginative favours. Gone are the days of the traditional sugared almonds and now wedding favours can be anything and everything, from fridge magnets to miniatures of home-brewed gin.
Over the years, delivering wedding linen hire to venues, we’ve seen some fantastic wedding favours and we want to share our favourites with you to inspire you.
Lottery tickets
Lottery tickets are ever popular as wedding favours and it’s easy to see why. They’re affordable, easy to plan and purchase and you don’t need to worry about whether or not they fit with your colour scheme. One thing to consider, however, is how you’d feel if one of your guests hit the jackpot with a ticket you’d bought. If you don’t think you could be happy for them, this probably isn’t an idea for you.
Flower seeds
Seeds are a beautiful way for guests to commemorate your wedding, as they can plant them in their garden when they go home and will remember your special day every time they see the flowers bloom. It’s even possible to have the packet personalised with your names and your wedding date to really give that personal touch.
Charitable donation
Many couples now leave a note at each guests seat, telling them that a donation has been made in their name to a charity of the bride and groom’s choice. This can be a beautiful way to support a charity that’s close to your heart and most guests will appreciate the gesture. Although you should always be diplomatic and remember that not all of your guests will necessarily agree with your chosen charity.
Homemade cakes or biscuits
If the bride or groom is a whiz in the kitchen, making homemade cakes or biscuits can be another wedding favour that really gives a personal touch. They can be decorated to match your wedding colours, or even with each guest’s name if you’re particularly skilled with an icing bag. Just remember to take into account any allergies or food intolerances that your guests may have.
Drinks miniatures
Miniatures of the bride and grooms favourite tipple can be another lovely personal idea. Perhaps you have a favourite gin or whiskey that you’d love to share with your guests. Well, giving a miniature as a wedding favour will be a wonderful way to introduce them to it. You could even personalise the bottles with a name tag tied around the neck using ribbon in your wedding colours.
